Of all Jason's songs, this was the best. We co-wrote this as far back as I can remember. A wailing wall of voices over driving guitars that perfectly encapsulated the struggle. Over the weekend that we recorded this Jason really pissed me off; he drank a weekends worth of beer in the first day, was high on a variety of substances acting extremely erratically, and at one point pulled a total diva stunt where it all went to his head and became the biggest rockstar lead singer douche you can imagine(for about 2 hours). This is the version I re-created originally for the TCEP compilation.
lyrics
I gotta find
I gotta find a way back
I gotta get up, get out
and find where I'm at
there has been something
that I've been avoiding
now it's just destroying my mind
and I can't find out
where it's coming from.
I gotta find out what it was that I keep running from.
Though I can see the signs around me I can't read them at all.
I thought i worked hard
for the illusions I had
they were all based upon lies
entrenched in my
poison head
wasting my time now I realize the size
of the consequence to it all
I was so blind
Doing the shard shard hop hop
run from the cops
help me to the next town man
I'll see you around
there'll be mad kick backs
when I get back
don't forget that
if I get back at all
or rot in a cell
Subject to any number of pitiful blunders.
